MySQL query in Python – Python

Just for my own reference.

Install the mysql Module

bash$: sudo port install py27-mysql

Connect and make query

Very, very, very, very basic.

import MySQLdb

# connect to the database
con=MySQLdb.connect('localhost','theUserName','thePassWord','theDatabase')

# then get the cursor
cur=con.cursor()

# now we can make a query with execute
cur.execute('SELECT `theColumn` FROM `theTable`')

# print the fuckers
numRows=int(cur.rowcount)

for i in range(numRows):
	row=cur.fetchone()
	print row[0]
